We have all heard the story of an installation crew waiting for materials to arrive. The foreman scrambling to find the shipment only to realize that the materials were in a completely different yard waiting to be processed. On one of our client’s projects we encountered significant challenges with their material management process, particularly due to the presence of a substantial volume of "ship loose" material.
This "ship loose" material, was not included in the Material Take-Off (MTO) and not received directly, it had to be processed under its parent tag. However, the necessary procedures for receiving and managing ship loose material under its parent tag were lacking.
Additionally, misalignment between the MTO and the items ordered through Purchase Orders (POs) resulted in inefficient and occasionally inaccurate material receipt, further complicating the projects execution.
